Sponsor a Meal at Haven Toronto

In 2016, at Haven Toronto, we experienced significant growth in the sponsorship of client meals. Individuals, families and corporations expressed interest in giving back to the community and it was an amazing success.  In many cases, families sponsored a breakfast or lunch in celebration of a family birthday.  This is a great way to spend time together and to give back to the community.  Sponsorship of a client breakfast or lunch includes covering the cost of the meal, as well as preparing and serving the food alongside our staff.  Sponsorships can be as inexpensive as $300.

Chandrima and her husband Athula, along with their daughter Aanjalie, are two-time sponsors of client lunches.  Chandrima said, “Our family supports the marginalized and vulnerable  members of our community.  That’s why we sponsor a client lunch at Haven Toronto.  We help prepare and serve meals and the elder homeless men who are the Haven Toronto clients eat for free.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community and interact with the men.  They are very kind and appreciative.  Haven Toronto really is a sanctuary for elder homeless men.”

Lesley recently started supporting Haven Toronto through meal sponsorship.  “I sponsor breakfasts at Haven Toronto.  This day centre is in my community and I wanted to do something to help support the elder men.  It’s an amazing place and a  wonderful experience.  Through my sponsorship of breakfasts I have become a regular volunteer and I encourage others to become involved through breakfast or lunch sponsorships.”

During the summer, companies and families sponsor barbecues in our courtyard and our clients love them.  Barbecues are a fun and easy was for companies to showcase the culture of giving within their organization and they also present the opportunity to involve employees in a team bonding event.
