Lauro Monteiro

Executive Director

Lauro’s extensive leadership experience enables him to guide the organization through its new strategic direction to better position Haven Toronto to provide services to its clients and to chart a new course in increasing awareness of the issues facing marginalized elder men and their unique needs. Lauro has decades of public service leadership experience within the justice and human services sectors and with the Ontario Secretary of the Cabinet. His passion and dedication to social justice and to the mission of our organization have been guiding forces in the constructive transformation of the services Haven Toronto provides to its clients.

 


Fred Gaysek

Manager of Finance and Administration

Fred Gaysek has worked extensively in both the not for profit and commercial sectors.

David Wannan

Director of Development and Community Relations

With a background in media, sponsorship and publicity, David Wannan is responsible for marketing, community engagement and donor relations. David’s goal is to increase awareness of Haven Toronto and the issues surrounding poverty, homeless and the elderly, while growing engagement and donations for the centre and its clients.

 


Heather Lockie

Volunteer Development Coordinator

Heather joined the organization as a volunteer in the spring of 2014 and became the Volunteer Development Coordinator in October 2014. Heather has previously worked in community outreach, mental health/addictions and education. She actively promotes volunteerism in the community to individuals and groups looking to give back.

Wayne Bright

Counsellor

Wayne has worked in the social services sector for more than 20 years, including in community outreach and front-line shelter support. In his counselling role at Haven Toronto, he utilizes his real life experience to connect with and advocate for clients.

 


Edward Lezama

Support Care Worker

Edward has been a vital part of the organization since 2011 and ensures that all clients are comfortable and taken care of on a continual basis.

Henri Fraser

Support Care Worker

Henri is the longest serving member of the team with over 12 years of front-line experience supporting our clients.

 


Karim Nassiri

Chef

Karim brings a wealth of international cooking experience to the kitchen at Haven Toronto. He enjoys creating new menu items and working closely with volunteers.

 


Isiaka Akande

Support Care Worker

Isiaka is a Support Care Worker responsible for helping clients and ensuring that the operation runs smoothly on the weekends. He and his partner, Ruth, work as a team to meet clients’ needs.

 


Ruth Stackhouse

Support Care Worker

Ruth is a dedicated member of the Haven Toronto team and serves as Support Care Worker on weekends. She maintains great relationships with clients and coworkers alike.

 


Sheila Yeung

Crisis Outreach Worker

Sheila works with Haven Toronto through a partnership with the COSS program (Crisis Outreach Service for Seniors). She provides short term intensive case management to clients who are in crisis. This involves meeting clients in the community, advocating for resources and connecting individuals to long term supports.

 


Tasha Williamson

Community Worker

Tasha is a Social Worker registered with OCSWSSW. Her previous experience includes providing services to individuals and families in the areas of advocacy, housing support, and informal counselling. At Haven Toronto, she continues the work of supporting those experiencing the effects of marginalization from an anti-oppressive, non-judgmental perspective.

 


Pavol Benca

Community Worker

Pavol has worked as part of multidisciplinary mental health teams, providing respite services for the elderly, housing services and counselling for individuals with developmental delays and dual diagnosis. At Haven Toronto, he links clients with proper services, helps to prevent unnecessary evictions, and works towards improve quality of life for mental health survivors.

 


Gabriela Paredes

Development and Social Media Assistant

Gabriela is a specialist in digital and social media with a strong background in law and marketing. She works with the development team at Haven Toronto to inform the general public on issues of homelessness, poverty and social isolation while also providing education on ways to offer support to the organization.
