Solving Social Isolation of Seniors
Recognizing that socialization is key to the health and well-being of seniors, Haven Toronto offers ongoing programs encouraging client engagement. These initiatives offer social interaction, team- work, entertainment and education.
We are proud to report that Haven Toronto’s softball team, the oldest in the league, made it to the finals in 2017.
Many of our in-house activities and our excursions downtown are based on current events in the city.
In late October, Toronto hosted Art/TO, Canada’s contemporary and modern art fair. Haven Toronto clients meet regularly at 170 Jarvis to partake in onsite art programs. The initiative expanded during Art/TO to include a special presentation on ‘Street Art’ by Chris Carelli, Outreach Librarian at the Parliament Street branch of the Toronto Public Library. The custom presentation complemented Haven Toronto’s week-long theme of ‘Art With A Cause’.
Later in the week, Haven Toronto hosted clients at the AGO where they had an opportunity to expand on their appreciation of Art With A Cause. More recently, Haven Toronto clients attended the Hockey Hall of Fame during Induction Week, the 2017 Royal Agriculture Winter Fair and Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout downtown Toronto.
