Loneliness Leads to Depression and Premature Death

February 5, 2018

Homeless seniors experience social isolation, expedited decline in health and premature death.

Today, 40% of seniors are lonely, at risk of depression and have increased odds of heart disease by 29% and stroke by 32%.

Socially isolated individuals are 30% more likely to die in the next 7 years.

Haven Toronto is a drop-in centre where elder men impacted by poverty, social isolation and homelessness can feel safe, where they can form and cultivate friendships, and become part of a community.

In 2017, Haven Toronto found housing for 32 clients. We served 51000 nutritious meals and distributed 9600 articles of clothing. Plus we provided onsite access to crisis and housing counsellors, nurses, dental hygienists and barbers.

None of this would be possible without the support of caring donors.

You can help those less fortunate. A donation of $14 covers meals for a week for one client. Please Donate Now.
