23 Haven Toronto Clients Died In 2017
Toronto Public Health released a report Wednesday stating one hundred homeless people died in Toronto in 2017. Seventy-four were male. Half of all deaths were people age 49 or older. One of the deceased was a 94-year-old homeless person.

The life expectancy in Canada is 81 years for males. The life expectancy of a homeless man is 30 years below the national average.
July saw the most deaths in any month with 13. February and September each had 11.
Two hundred local agencies and charities contributed to the collection of data by the city. This is substantially more than previous years when only city-run shelters contributed. That said, the locations of 26 deaths of homeless people in 2017 are unknown.
Last year, 23 clients of Haven Toronto died.
