Volunteering Helped Me Realize How Fortunate I Am
Volunteering is a selfless act. You donate your time and expertise without expecting anything in return. Volunteers like Joe Rizza will tell you they get more out of the volunteering than they give.

I first heard about Haven Toronto through a client at my salon, Hair Dynamix on Queen East. I was intrigued to learn more and was invited to the Jarvis Street drop-in centre. I was impressed by what I saw. The small organization makes a big difference in the lives of so many.
My visit inspired me to be part of the effort. I began volunteering on Tuesdays, providing free grooming. Not just cuts but actual hairstyling. I love helping people feel good about themselves - a good haircut goes a long way!
The experience has been so rewarding that I have shared the opportunity with hair styling students at Marca College. Many students joined me in giving back.
Volunteering at Haven Toronto has humbled me
and made me realize how fortunate I am
to have family support, a steady job and
great people around me.
The clients at Haven Toronto are people just like you and me. These men have had hardships in their lives and, unfortunately, many have ended up homeless. But they are trying to help themselves and those around them. To them, Haven Toronto is a safe place to go to connect with others who are going through similar experiences.
