At any given time, Haven Toronto is home to nearly 1,000 members — men over 50 navigating homelessness, food insecurity, and a city where the cost of everything has made survival harder than ever. We are Canada's only organization dedicated exclusively to elder homeless men. The need is growing. The doors stay open because people like you choose to help.

Essential care, every day
A nutritious meal and a safe place can be the difference between crisis and stability. Your Circle of Care gift funds the daily essentials that make everything else possible — healthy meals, personal hygiene support, and a consistent, welcoming presence. Your gift of $500 funds approximately 165 healthy meals a year.
$1000+
Consistency that heals
Stability requires showing up — with food, care, and connection — again and again. Your Circle of Support gift sustains that consistency: nutritious meals twice daily, access to on-site nursing, and the kind of regular human contact that begins to rebuild what chronic homelessness erodes. Your $1000 gift funds approximately 330 meals and medical support visits a year.

Pathways forward
Funding the specialized support that moves men off the street and into stable housing — casework, system navigation, health and wellness referrals, and the hours of dedicated one-on-one time that make real change possible. Your $2500 gift funds approximately 650 meals, nursing and health support, and 20 hours of casework a year.

Comprehensive care
Providing the full spectrum of support a man needs to move from the street to a dignified, stable life — meals every day, dedicated casework, nursing and health care, and the wrap-around presence that makes lasting change possible. Your $5000 gift funds approximately 1,000 meals, 80 hours of casework, and 50 hours of nursing and health support a year.
Starter-Kit Program
One box. Everything he needs to start over
Many Haven members who move off the street or out of shelter need support to turn a room into a place they can actually live — rent deposits, a bed and bedding, kitchen essentials, towels, basic furniture. The Starter-Kit Program provides a one-time gift of up to $1,000, covering what matters most in those first weeks.

Haven Toronto is a day centre supporting elder, homeless men since 1933. Open 8AM - 4PM, 365 days a year. We are the sole Canadian organization dedicated exclusively to men 50+, serving a roster of approximately 1,000 clients at any given time, with 30% over the age of 60, 80% homeless, and 100% facing food insecurity. Nearly 50% of our operational funding relies on donations from generous individuals, foundations and corporations.
TAX RECEIPTS
While tax receipts are often prepared in 1 to 3 business days, during busier time periods the process can take 7 to 10 business days or more. If you have a question about your tax receipt, or wish to have a copy re-sent to you, please email info@haventoronto.ca.
To prepare a charitable tax receipt, the CRA requires a first and last name and a complete mailing address. Email addresses are not required but simplify processing a tax receipt.
Tax receipts are not issued for in-kind donations, i.e. new and used clothing, personal hygiene items, etc.

DONATING SECURITIES
When you make a gift of securities to Haven Toronto, you put stock in knowing you are supporting vital programs.
If you are an executor, personal representative, estate trustee, liquidator, trust officer, lawyer or individual transferring securities on behalf of an estate or trust, please contact us.
Why donate securities? Your gift of securities entitles you to a donation receipt for the full market value (resale) of your contribution.

Your gift will result in a non-refundable tax credit that will reduce your income taxes. You can use it in the year of your gift or carry it forward for up to five additional years.
You pay no capital gains tax on the appreciated value (increased price) of your securities. Donating securities directly to Haven Toronto avoids the tax on capital gains, maximizes the return on your investment and protects the tax credits for use against other taxable income.

LEAVING A GIFT IN YOUR WILL
Remembering Haven Toronto in your will is an act that is generous, powerful, and surprisingly simple. It allows you to leave a larger gift than would be possible during your lifetime, while still retaining control of your assets.
You can leave a piece of property, securities, cash, or even a percentage of your estate. Your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt that can lower or even eliminate estate taxes.
Leaving a gift to Haven Toronto in your will is simple. Talk it over with your family and loved ones, then speak to your lawyer about drafting or revisiting your will, or adding a codicil.
Be sure to inform us of your bequest and your wishes. It will give us the opportunity to thank you and, more importantly, to discuss what you hope your gift will help to accomplish. Of course, we will respect your privacy and confidentiality. Every gift in every will makes a difference.
IN-KIND DONATIONS
We accept in-kind donations of Men's gently used clothing, including jackets, pants, shirts and shoes. Not included are socks, underwear and suits.
